Everyone has a “first” in their life. When asked about our “first”, we usually think about our first romantic experience; but this is not that kind of experience. What I’m talking about is a new beverage from a new place that me and a friend also tried for the first time.
Single Origin is a coffee place that also serves cocktails, mocktails and other liquors. Their menu also includes pasta, pizza, sandwiches, soups, fries and other food items that’s great for a hearty meal or just to satisfy your cravings. I was curious to check it out since I kept seeing it from a distance whenever I visit the mall.
We liked the place as soon as we saw it up close from the glass doors. We stayed earlier in the evening when there were only a few people around and we left late, almost near closing time. So we were able to experience the place when it was full of people for dinner. Surprisingly, different people came to the place – office workers, dating couples, groups of friends, and even families with their kids.
I like that the ambiance is quite chill even during busy hours. Unlike other coffee places; seating is spread out nicely so it doesn’t feel cramped or too noisy even when the place is packed. In the branch that we visited; we were seated beside the front doors where the walls were made of see-through glass. The tables also featured desk lamps with warm lighting so it helped to make us feel cozy but not too exposed. I guess I was too comfy and forgot to take pictures of the place.
Anyway, the highlight of the night was the drink we ordered. The flavor combination stood out to us so we wanted to try it. Orange Infused Cappuccino is quite a unique combination of flavors. You can truly feel the orange and coffee flavors separately, one not overpowering the other. I liked that the orange didn’t taste too sweet. However, I have never liked the acidity that coffee leaves on my tongue. So, I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it either. On the other hand, my friend loved it and would definitely order it again.

Another thing that we tried, which was more familiar to our taste buds, was the Truffle Fries topped with grated parmesan cheese, with 3 kinds of dips. I found out that it was infused with toasted garlic flavor and coated with truffle oil. This one was definitely a hit and we knew instantly that we would order it again the next time we visit this or other branches.

I was too eager to start eating so this definitely is not the most flattering photo of the fries. They were really delicious and filling too. The individual fries were quite big and the whole thing was good for 2-3 people. Since there was only the 2 of us, we had the rest to take home.
Outings like this from time to time is really a nice break from the daily grind. We not only got to enjoy new things but also got to vent out, laughed out, and exchanged insights from our most recent experiences. Best of all, we agreed to do this again, and I’m looking forward to the next new experience.
