I wandered around our neighborhood mall to check out new places to try. Milk tea is always a popular snack beverage but sometimes, your only options are also sweet snack items. Not so at Serenitea.
This cafe not only sells the popular milk tea, iced tea and coffee beverages but also snack items to go with them. I was glad to see that they had healthier snack or meal options on the menu, not just the usual sweet treats like most cafes offer. Of course, I went for the unique and familiar items on the menu with my favorite beverage in a different blend.

One of the unique things I saw on their menu was the Thai Tofu bites. It was crispy tofu sprinkled with black pepper powder (and maybe something else spicy) to give it that spicy kick. The simple fare did not come with a dip but it was good on its own too. Although, at one point, the savory crispiness had me thinking it would pair well with soft, steamed rice.

My next item was the ever-familiar comfort food – hash brown. In contrast to the tofu treat, this was on the softer side and very much comforting to eat. You don’t even notice that it’s not from the popular fast-food chain. I am glad that at least here, this item is available even after breakfast. Again, no dip but it was enjoyable on its own.

Of course to complete my quick snack, I had to order my beverage. I choose a Cream Brûlée Matcha with 50% sugar. It was a great choice – not too sweet, just the right creaminess and of course the familiar matcha flavor, balanced each other.

There are still many items on their menu to try out for snacking or even as a side dish for a meal. Some items can be paired with rice and they also have rice meals on offer for those who need their rice. Perhaps I will try some of their rice meals next.
After this little snack, I ordered the Thai Tofu for takeout because I did want it for my rice meal at home. I enjoyed it with my own home made soy sauce blend as well. Will definitely visit here next time.
